CBS Radio Seattle Click It 2 Ride campaign

Posted on December 30, 2011

The CBS Radio Seattle Click It 2 Ride campaign offers a safe ride option to impaired drivers in King County  and Snohomish County with just a quick snap of a QR code. This code will be displayed in hundreds of bars and restaurants. Other partners in Click it 2 Ride, encouraging social responsibility and safe rides after alcohol consumption, are the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and MillerCoors. The QR Code links to http://www.1800taxicab.com/seattle.html, which redirects mobile phone users to http://ma004.myw2m.com/; a mobile site that displays taxi companies phone numbers, simply click the number to call the company <a href=”tel://###-###-####”>). CBS Radio Seattle created the interactive marketing campaign, and it will be featured on CBS Radio Seattle radio this holiday season.  More traffic crashes and alcohol-related highway deaths occur during holiday periods than other times during the year.

Sharon Foster, Chair of the Washington State Liquor Control Board said, “Far too many Washington state citizens are killed or injured by impaired drivers. The Click It 2 Ride program, by encouraging social responsibility and providing alternatives to driving after drinking, supports the public safety efforts of the Washington State Liquor Control Board.”

In the first 22 days of the campaign, 1-800-TAXICAB has reported receiving 416 calls, and there were 514 page views. That translates into 416 potentially impaired drivers taken off the streets.

The Click it 2 Ride campaign will initially run through the winter holidays until January 2, 2012. Additional campaigns are planned throughout 2012 during times of known higher alcohol consumption, such as St. Patrick’s Day and Memorial Day through the 4th of July.
