Emart Sunny Sale Campaign – Shadow QR Code

Sundial Qr Code gives people a unique lunch shopping experience; a shadow QR code, using sunlight and shadow that works only from 12pm to 1pm.

To increase sales during the lunch period, E-MART (largest retail chain in Korea) decided to launch a unique experience to its customers; that lasted only during the lunch hour. Thus, they launched a QR Code, only readable from 12:00 to 1:00, due to the position of the sun. Consumers who scanned the QR Code were directed to the E-MART online store and received $12 coupons for products to be delivered in their homes. This action expanded to 36 locations in Seoul, offered more than 12,000 vouchers, the number of members increased by 58% and, moreover, there was a 25% increase in sales during the lunch hour.

This installation is composed of 441 pillars (21×21) which have 7 different heights. We set the artwork so the shape of its shadow perfectly forms the QR code around  noon.

Check ou the iTunes store app to see what is displayed if you can scan the sundial QR Code. Check out the http://www.sunnysale.kr/pc_sunnysale.html web site for complete information on this excellent campaign.

Nintendo 3DS System Update v. 4.0.0-7 add QR Codes

Nintendo 3DS System Update v. 4.0.0-7  adds a QR Code option — the 3DS has been able to scan QR codes for ever, but now the eShop gives you a new option. Tap this in the Settings/Other menu, scan a QR code and it’ll open the relevant page in the eShop.

The QR Code function in the eShop is also an alternative to Download Codes. You’ll be able to Scan a QRcode in order to Redeem Gifts like Games, Apps, and Cash Credit. Basically so you can easily purchase content online and then send it to your 3DS. Nintendo has said that they’re working on an eShop Website, and also it would make redeeming Club Nintendo Prizes a whole lot easier.

Street Marketing?

Street marketing operation for the brand Colombian Americanino ( http://www.americanino.com /).  I think it was staged (most had the Americanino brand of underwear), still interesting use of a QR Code and a mobile phone; alot of people scanned the QR Code.

Postagram adds QR codes

The newest version of the Postagram app adds a QR code to all post cards sent out, which — when scanned by a QR reader that was just added to the app — lets recipients download a digital copy of the photo and share it on Twitter. It also lets the sender of the post card know it was received — success!!! — and automatically adds the senders’ address to the recipients’ address book so they can send their own Postagrams in reply.
