Umbrella QR Code In China

The world’s largest golf facility, Mission Hills Shenzhen, China claimed a world record “human” QR Code. The QR Code was formed by almost 2,000 of their staff with  umbrellas. I have not been able to find a scannable photo. The QR Code is supposed to resolve to a campaign website promoting sustainable eco-tourism and a prize draw. Umbrella QR Codes seem to be fashionable at the moment, like this one from Taiwan.

3 Best Practices for Creating Reliable QR Codes

Great Video, my local TV station WZZM 13 created a new WZZM-TV iPad app and created a new QR Code with their logo. they placed in a new TV ad to download the app. The graphic designer removed the quiet zone, so I could not scan it with my iPad no matter how hard I tried. Their original ad with a simple QR code works fine, see it here Original WZZM 13 QR Code TV Ad.

Fused Glass QR Code Art

Michigan Artist Nina Cambron has created three awesome fused glass QR codes:

  1.  The “Clicqit #1″ QR Code is a 365 phrase assortment of quotes, affirmations & advice that changes every 24 hours. Some funny, some inspirational, a different thought to start the day.
  2. The Clicqit #2″ QR Code is our Fortune Teller code – a constant randomly changing dialog of yes, no, maybe & other similar responses to all those burning questons!
  3. The “Clicqit #3″ QR Code has a  Laughing Toddler audio file!

Check out her web page for more information:  www.ninacambron.com! If you are into QR Codes, purchase one now before they are all gone. A great way to show what a QR code is capable of doing. I like that the messages on two of the art works are not static, she is using a technique similar to the one I outline in my QR Code URL post, only she is using audio files, giving inspiration or  foretelling the future!

QR Codes are on the sidewalks in the Gangnam District of Seoul, Korea, the country’s fashionable neighborhood mentioned in the music video sensation “Gangnam Style”. Four are installed in Garosu Street in Sinsa-dong and another four are set up near the COEX building in Samseong-dong. The QR codes were placed on the pavements last Thursday. By scanning the on-ground QR code with a smartphone, people will be able to access information about tourist spots in the vicinity, including shopping and dining facilities.

The two foot square QR Codes lead to a mobile site. The information on the mobile website is identical to that included on printed pamphlets and in brochures The QR codes at the COEX and Garosu Street provide information in English, Chinese, and Japanese.

QR Code CPR

When a person suffers cardiac arrest, most people don’t know what to do. That’s why the Dutch Heart Foundation developed an IPhone app. The IPhone app provides audio support for performing CPR.

They wanted to encourage people to download the app by combining the problem and the solution in one visual. They developed a print ad with a QR-code, entirely made of real people.

Scan the picture, if you can or the video at 1:21 with a QR-reader and it will send you immediately to the app-store, to download the Dutch CPR app.

The IPhone app is in Dutch and the QR Code is difficult to scan, but it does scan (video at 1:21.)
