QR Code Bandage Blood Drive

In Brazil , Catholic Health  Santa Casa de Misericordia took a unique initiative to promote blood donation. Helped by the agency Young & Rubicam, they developed QR Code adhesive bandage dressings  to put on blood donors.  Scanning the code with their phone displays videos of men and women whose relatives can be saved with this gift.

Victoriei station QR Code® Library

Vodafone Romania are using QR Codes in Victoriei station, Bucharest. The ‘digital library’ allows passengers to scan a QR Code on the book’s spine and download a pdf, ePub or audio version to use on the train.

Throughout the month of October, riders who visit Victoriei station will be able to scan QR codes and dwonload ebooks and audiobooks. This project, which was launched in collaboration with Editura Humanitas, offers readers samples of 49 ebook titles in Epub and PDF as well as 10 audiobook titles. You can find the ebooks here, The selection is a mix of original and translated works.

This is really nothing more than a marketing ploy. I think it would have been better if they had offered free public domain titles instead of a limited number of samples.

In another part of the station they have created a digital florist where commuters can scan a QR Code on a virtual bouquet of flowers and have them sent anywhere in the world with an appropriate message.

QR Code Covered Pavilion

”Certainly one of the most eye-catching out of the over 50 national pavilions at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale is the one representing Russia. Dubbed “easily the most popular pavilion in the Giardini” by World Architects, Russia’s pavilion shocks its visitors as every surface inside of it is covered in QR codes. Visitors are encouraged to enter the innovation city called Skolkovo and use iPads to decode the concept for the actual Skolkovo, which is Russia’s futuristic city-in-planning (their equivalent of a Silicon Valley) which will be located near Moscow.”

Chateau de l’Hermine in Vannes QR Code

A 538 square feet QR Code hangs on the 18th century Chateau de l’Hermine in Vannes, France. City officials are using the giant QR Code to promote their mobile site for the benefit of the many tourists that visit this historic town. Not only is the mobile site very informative but it also includes a scratch game and a game of tic-tac-toe for which there are numerous prizes. Implementation is by the same team that invented QR Code cows.

We announced the Qr Code design contest in April. The code scans at a distance of 40 meters: It is fully functional. Municipal officials selected the work of Lawrence Cooper, founder and president of Mobilead , a pioneer in software solutions applied to marketing and mobile technologies, especially QRcodes (via the creation solution QRcode mass customized QR + ™)

The Proposal: Girl scans QR code on Cake, gets a ring

From YouTube; “I had a bakery in my hometown put a cake in their display case that had a QR code on it, and the words ‘scan me.’ A bunch of friends and I were walking around when we went by it. She was enticed by a friend to scan it to see what it was… and guess what she found? A message saying ‘I love you, will you marry me?’ in it.”

Creative and lovely use of a QR code, what will be on the wedding cake?

QR Code® COWS HOAX- now a reality

I orginally posted this story, but now thanks to the magic of Googler Translation, the truth has come out. It was originally a HOAX that went viral, over 50,000 views, but now has become a reality!

Check out this Google translation (use Google Chrome) from qrdresscode.com site:

“Video with these funny cows “in play” toured the world in 5 days. We were surprised, amazed and even annoyed some animal advocates.

Bacon or pork? Journalists were hesitant, sometimes they published without verification, and sometimes we were contacted. After 25,000 views around the web in one week, the bet to surprise and convince them that these technologies can be used in unusual places won!

Or bacon, or pig. Cow! Neither completely true nor completely false … since the hoax will come true!

What is true in the video:

• These are real cows, in a real operating Morbihan farm

• Cows have really been stenciled after milking (edible ink of course)

• Cows were really scannable

• There is a real scratch game behind the QR code

What is not completely true:

• Gildas the farmer is an (excellent) actor

• The extras in the video are friends excited about this QR codes project in the meadow

And most importantly, what has become true since this video: Two Breton farmers using direct sales from home to the farm want to implement the technique (a “cell R & D” is currently at work in determining the appropriate quality of  ”bio” paint coat) – (a farmer is one who hosted the filming in his firm Penn Da Benn to Senna )

The experimental operation of viral marketing was born in the heads of a group of crazy Morbihan, passionate tech news and new media indivudals. The truth? It was especially great time!

Here are the actors in this true-false news:

♦ Dress Code QR ( www.qrdresscode.com ): to have the crazy idea to tag cows

♦ Production Plural: communication agency in Lorient ( www.plurielle-prod.fr ): produced and directed  as a TV report

♦ My QReation ( www.myqreation.fr ): the site that prints your t-shirts with your custom code QR: t-shirts produced the film

♦ The stories of the Giraffe ( www.histoiresdelagirafe.com ): personalized books for kids: provided the image of the Geek, the QR cow (from a book customized with qr codes)

♦ Imagypress & Mediaoptim ( http://www.imagypress.com and http://www.mediaoptim.com ) – PR Agencies and web marketing: QR Codes and new technologies enthusiasts, knew how to push information in the mainstream media

♦ Bookbeo: ( www.bookbeo.com ) – mobile marketing agency: has developed the scratch game “cows to scratch”

♦ The Behoc Gildas, our fabulous farmer, called Gildas Puget, actor in the troupe of brilliant street performers: “Quality Street” ( http://www.qualitestreet.com ). Run to see if they play near you (he played all over France), their shows are hilarious.

♦ Matilda Neyland: Translation and subtitling

♦ The “Creperie La Bretonne” in Vannes ( Facebook / LaCrèperieBretonne ): For an outstanding picnic held at the waterfront the day of filming

A big thank you to all friends “extras” Flo, Gaelle, Clarissa, Julia, Helen, Jean-Christophe, Jerome Thierry, Jean-Francois Michel, Loic Nicolas, Jacques & Pascal.

And special thanks to farmers who have so graciously welcomed our crazy ideas and turning our constraints.

Finally, thank you that the cows have recovered their natural color thanks to the Breton rain (what rain??)
