To use the eTrailhead you’ll need a smart phone with a QR code reader. When visiting the trail, use the reader to scan the QR code in the kiosk and you’ll see a welcome page on your phone. Select from the menu (map, trail description, etc.). Enter your email address when prompted. That’s all there is to it! Now you have the information you need for a safe hike.

Signal School trains using QR codes
Posted onMay 12, 2012
The Fort Gordon LandWarNet School is developing mobile training content which uses technology referred to as “Link Code” to train Soldiers.
There are several different types of these codes, and “QR” or Quick Response code is the most popular now, according to Thomas Clark, LandWarNet School, General Dynamics, C4 Systems business manager.
“Quick Response codes are used with a mobile device such as a smart phone,” said Clark. “The code can be placed on any flat surface and translates to a small amount of text such as web link. Instead of typing, you can scan a QR Code with the smart phone’s camera. The link takes you to useful information about whatever it is you are working with.

Army begins using QR codes
Posted onMay 12, 2012
Currently, all of the Army Career Center’s in the Sacramento Recruiting Battalion are creating QR Codes to place in their windows. If the Soldiers happen to be out of the center on an appointment, or if the center is closed for the weekend, a prospective applicant can simply scan the QR Code and find the information they need about that particular Army Career Center. Prospective applicants will even be directed to the Facebook page of the Career Center, should they want to view it.

OR Codes Point to Exercise
Posted onMay 4, 2012When students at the McLean, Va., school show up for P.E., they’re handed iPads and iPod Touches. The devices let them scan Quick Response (QR) codes — black-and-white boxes — on signs scattered along a quarter-mile path that loops around the playground. The codes trigger videos showing them how to perform exercises.

Walk Raleigh project QR Codes
Posted onApril 19, 2012The cardboard and vinyl signs contained snippets about how many minutes it would take to walk to must-see destinations like Raleigh City Cemetery, as well as QR codes for downloading directions. Check out the BBC video and their FaceBook page..
The initial guerrilla (unsanctioned & self initiated) wayfinding project has turned into a KickStarter Project, only a few days left to help fund this project!
What? An open-sourced online resource for anyone to auto-magically create their own guerrilla wayfinding sign to export, print and install. (We hope to add community feedback/dialogue to the platform if there is strong enough support)
Why? Walk Raleigh, our initial guerrilla (unsanctioned & self initiated) wayfinding project, has resonated with so many people, both home and away (even the BBC came to town!), we had to make it accessible for more and more people. It has even been adopted as a pilot educational program in Raleigh, N.C.
